I'm baaaaack on the main land, back ON-LINE.....

Bula!!  (Live Long!)

I am so tan it is sickening right now... I think I might even possibly beat the sun goddess, Mrs. Bouley!   I only have about 19 minutes left on my internet card, so this update will be brief but I will give you a few highlights from my Fiji Island Hopping Adventure!   I went on an AWESOME ADVENTURE (T-just so you know, that is the literal name of the tour...lol) and the package was called the "The Ultimate Lei".

I spent 7 nights on 4 islands and one GLORIOUS night on the Wanna Taki Cruise!  (http://www.awesomefiji.com/wanna.aspx)   The Wanna Taki Cruise was right in the middle of my Ultimate Lei package which was much appreciated since the cruise had air-conditioned quarters!   This was the ONLY night out of 8 nights in and around the islands that I had a good night sleep.  Well, unless you count the "Kava" night, but that is a story in it of itself!!  STAY TUNED!!

I definitely saw Fiji on a good budget travel package so I cannot really complain, but I will... It was fricken HOT!!   I am talking around 89 degrees sleeping in dorms with a mosquito net around me blocking any remote brisk of air!    Holy B-Jesus!   

My last day around the islands (Monday) was spent on a Sail Boat and I visited the Mamanuca Islands - I got to snorkel around and walk on the island used in the Tom Hanks movie "Castaway".   VERY COOL!!   The weather was not ideal today, but the sailing adventure was fantastic!!   

Oh, and I should let you all know that I could probably have about 5 Fijean Husbands by now if I really wanted... They "fancied" MLD....Standard Greeting to me, "Where you from?    Travelling alone?   Are you married..."    every single time...LOL

Since my time is limited, I will leave you with the main highlights and I promise to update from my journal once I land in Sydney Australia tomorrow 04.12.2005.    The internet is expensive here, and rather slow so this is the best I could do... Hope my fans will be satisifed with this little Fijean appetizer of the MLD World Tour!!

I did not get to all my emails, I just addressed the most urgent and I will catch up with everything once I go Down Under...

FIJI!! 29 degrees and Balmy

CELSIUS!!   (That is 85F for my American friends).    When I got off the plane tonight in Nadi (prounounced:  nan-dee) around 7:50pm, I immediately felt a warm gush of air drape over me like a warm, moist blanket...  Just think of those warm towellettes they hand you after fine dining and then imagine someone throwing a full-body wet towel on your head!

The South islands of NZ were on average between 15-18C, so I am in my glory right about now!!   Bring on the HEAT!!   I hate to be the bearer of bad news to all my loyal fans, but.....    I may not be able to do another update until I get back from my island hopping tour which will start tomorrow (Monday) promptly at 8am!    I was not able to book the whole thing tonight, but I did discuss my options in great length with a very helpful and friendly girl at the booking desk at this hostel.  I arrived here at the Nomads Sky Lodge at 9:30pm, so it was too late to pay for and book my stuff.   It is all sorted now though!   YAY!!

The lines for customs at the Nadi Airport were RI-DIC-U-LOUSly looooooooong....  I will say though that I really love this hostel here!!   It is like a mini-resort at $23FJ a night!

There is a great open area bar/restaurant right in the middle of the resort and they were having a movie night which had already started before I arrived.  The movie "Ray" was projected up on the wall almost to the size of a cinema screen.  Way kewl...  After I worked out my total Fijean experience with the activities desk, I went to drop off my bag in my room.   Nice room, 4 beds (two bunks) and we have our own bathroom and sitting area.   The bed linens looked nice with the light off, my dorm mates were sleeping at 9:30pm??

After getting my allergy medicine sorted and into my system in somewhat of a panic (hello MOSQUITOS!), I am now siting in front of one of only 3 PCS which are located outside in the thick warm air between the dorms and the bar.  Actually, the bar is on the other side of the wall near my PC Station and they have the music loud and jammin' in there!!   Thank Baby Jesus for ear plugs, they have saved me most nights and helped me to get some reasonably good nights of sleep considering I am constantly sharing rooms with a bunch of strangers!

If I have a minute tomorrow morning in between booking my island hopping tour and leaving, I will post an island itinerary and dates if I have that info.   Basically, we will be lucky to have electricity at all on those tiny little islands so the internet is definitely not happenin'.....Sorry guys!!   

After I finish my tour, I am going to come back here to Nomads Sky Lodge and stay the last night here in Nadi Fiji.   It is about a 10 minute drive from the airport and they have FREE shuttle service to/from.     Also, my island tour includes all boat transportation, food, dorm lodging, AND ALL ACTIVITIES!!  Not excluding kayaking, snorkeling, boating, beach volleyball, whatever!!   I promise I will keep good journal notes so that I can give you one PHAT update when I get back to Nadi and I have internet again!!

If you do not hear from me until April 11th, do NOT become alarmed, it is just that I have no internet access!!   All I need to bring is my biking, flip flops, camera (of course!), SPF 100 and BUG SPRAY!!!   Lots and lots of BUG SPRAY!!  It is rainy season, GOD HELP ME!

Well folks, this is your loyal world correspondent signing out... Time to go sleep in the air conditioned room and get out of this sticky mess for a little while!
